Onur Özkaya is the founder and Artistic director of the Istanbul International Double Bass Masterclass, which has been held annually in Istanbul since 2018. Masterclass aims to bring together world-class double bass players and professors who share the principle of ‘Music is the International Language of Humanity’ with students who are eager to learn and explore. The aim is for students to be active and productive during the summer months, to expand their solo and chamber music repertoire and practice in an intensive working atmosphere where everyday lessons and rehearsals are offered, as well as challenging final concert. Desire was to built international meetings of young Double Bass players, where prominent talents would gather, intensively work, listen other lessons, get inspired and pick up ideas how to involve more in music, profound their knowledge and boost careers.  The idea is to hold Masterclass every year in a different wonderful hall that Istanbul is offering, which would push students to master their sound projection, courage themselves to win a big stage and get over stage fright. Some of the amazing halls which Masterclass has been held so far are Borusan Music House, wonderful Süreyya Opera House, Yeldeğirmeni Sanat Merkezi and Grand Pera. Faculty consists of well rounded musicians who are concert active, with a long teaching careers and a lot of empathy and desire to pass the knowledge to students.  Distiguished guest professors who have held masterclasses so far are: Volkan Orhon, Klaus Trumpf, Artom Chirkov.
